APT’s Rotating Rep Schedule

APT's Rotating Rep Schedule

APT operates on a rotating repertory schedule in its two theaters during the main season, June – October. Five plays begin rehearsal in late April and open over three weeks in June – three in the Hill Theatre and two in the Touchstone Theatre. Those five plays rotate performances, usually with each production playing 1-3 times per week. Actors generally perform in two of the first five plays, though actors with larger roles may only have one assignment among the five plays.

Once the “first rep” plays are open, rehearsals begin in early July for a second set of plays (“second rep”), two additional plays for the Hill Theatre and one more for the Touchstone Theatre. Rehearsals for these plays are in the afternoons with first rep performances in the evening. Actors are in one of the three second rep plays. The second rep plays open in late July/early August, and all eight plays continue running. Generally, one or two productions close in early to mid-September and others run through the first week of October.

A ninth play opens in the Touchstone Theatre in late October and runs for 4-5 weeks.
