Camela Widad (She/Her)
Music Director, As You Like It, The Matchmaker, Uncle Vanya, The Two "Gentlemen" of Verona

Always captured by the melodies, Camela Widad was close to wearing out the vinyl from her hometown library way before that first song tumbled out. Growing up in Spring Green, influenced by the artists from APT, Widad set out to follow the thread of storytelling woven so deeply in her roots.

A theatre degree later, after miles along US highways, gritty theatre gigs, and cover bands, she found herself making her first record and back where she started—storytelling and those addictive melodies. A classic Americana troubadour who holds the stories of us: everyday people living and loving in our perfectly imperfect ways.

Seven albums later, adding vocal coaching to her toolbox, championing other artists along the way, earning songwriting awards and gracing great stages, she brings an honesty that captures audiences in a net of authenticity that feels "a little bit saintly and a little bit rock and roll."

She has supported singers, burgeoning songwriters, and actors for over 20 years through her company, Creative Soul Studios. Maintaining a vocal coaching roster in Madison, Spring Green and online, she has also been faculty with Girls Rock Camp Madison, Sun Prairie Creates, Gamut Theatre in Pennsylvania and Swannanoa Gathering in North Carolina.

Widad has appeared on stages alongside Chuck Prophet, Della May, David Lindley, and the iconic band America, at venues and events such as The Birchmere Music Hall, Club Passim, Gibson Community Music Hall, Uncommon Ground, The Bur Oak, Live on The Folk Show on WXPN, The Tin Angel, and the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. She is so happy to come full circle, back home, to be part of the APT family and support the artists and storytelling that started it all.
