George is in love with languages; specifically extinct ones. He’s also in love with his wife, Mary, but he’s not nearly as good at that. Along with his assistant Emma, George welcomes a married couple – the last speakers of a beautiful and nearly dead language – to his lab to record them for his archives. Which would be George’s crowning achievement, except the pair can’t stop bickering in English. Poetic and charming, The Language Archives is a vivid search for meaning in relationships and in words.
