Vanessa Stalling is thrilled to return to American Players Theatre after directing Constellations in 2024. She is the director and adaptor of the award-winning play United Flight 232, an honoree of the Goodman Theatre Michael Maggio Fellowship, Hellman Fellowship, and Chicago Jeff and Los Angeles Raw Awards. She is a former Associate Artistic Director of Redmoon Theatre, where she directed dozens of performances. Most cherished include the remount of The Cabinet for the FILO Festival tour in Brazil and performances at President Obama’s 2009 White House Halloween celebrations. Directing credits include Hamlet (Illinois Shakespeare), Merry Me (Diversionary), Unconditional (Fountain), Photograph 51 and Fen (The Court Theatre); A Shayna Maidel and The Lehman Trilogy (Timeline Theatre); The Wolves and Roe (Goodman Theatre); The Great Leap (Asolo Rep). She’s taught at Roosevelt University, Columbia College, University of Chicago, and is the Head of Directing at University of California San Diego.
