Fresh off a Tony Award-winning season, American Players Theatre (APT) in Spring Green, Wisconsin, has revealed an ambitious nine-play lineup for its 48th season, set to run from June through November 2027. Building on immense artistic momentum and strong community support, the upcoming season blends classic masterworks, sharp comedies, and groundbreaking contemporary drama across its outdoor Hill Theatre and indoor Touchstone Theatre stages.

The summer season outdoors at the Hill Theatre kicks off in June with William Shakespeare's spirited farce, The Comedy of Errors, directed by Core Company member David Daniel following his acclaimed 2025 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The high-energy laughter continues with Marc Camoletti's 1960s French farce Boeing Boeing, translated by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans, and helmed by director Shannon Cochran. In July, George Bernard Shaw's sharp social commentary returns to the Hill stage for the first time since 2018 with Mrs. Warren's Profession, directed by Laura Gordon. August brings the Wisconsin premiere of James Ijames's Pulitzer Prize-winning Fat Ham, a clever, backyard-barbecue reimagining of Hamlet directed by Tyrone Phillips. The Hill lineup concludes with Shakespeare's magical final romance, The Tempest, last produced at APT in 2011 and now directed by Core Company member Laura Rook.
