Please tell us about Mineral Point Gallery Nights!

Mineral Point has attracted artists and creative types for decades. From potters to painters, woodworkers to weavers, and everything in between – there is some serious talent going on here. Join us for Gallery Night and get inspired during these late shopping night events, always on the first Saturdays of April, June, August, and December.

On Gallery Night, participating businesses stay open late with an emphasis on “bonus, late night” shopping from 5 PM- 9 PM. Local galleries will oftentimes showcase a special artist, new artwork, or host the opening night of a new show or exhibit. Lots of shops will have small treats out to enjoy too as you're browsing around. Come explore this historic city and experience all the beautiful things our creative community has to offer!

What inspired the creation of Mineral Point Gallery Nights?

Mineral Point is nestled centrally between Madison, WI, and Dubuque, IA, and was the first city in Wisconsin to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's a small, rural community of about 2,500 people but hosts a vibrant and unique arts scene.

Mineral Point has attracted artists and creative types for decades and in the year 2000 a small group of independent artists decided to start Gallery Night in hopes that it would grow and become annual event - and it did!

Now, Gallery Night is in its 26th year this year. Many different galleries, shops, and restaurants have participated over the last years, and we're proud that this year in 2026, there are 33 different participating businesses! Each is uniquely its own and each brings something special to these annual events.

Tell us more about what happens at Gallery Nights.

Galley nights occur annually in Mineral Point on the first Saturdays of April, June, August, and December from 5pm-9pm. This year in 2026: April 4, June 6, August 1, and December 5.

A lot of the participating businesses are open day to day throughout the seasons and many of the galleries also participate in the Fall Art Tour (October 16-18, 2026). Mineral Point is a bustling place and we invite you to come check things out!

Why do you love being a part of this Driftless community?

We love being part of the community here! We go on about of all the wonderful creative types that call Mineral Point home but outside of that Mineral Point is a very welcoming community for people of all ages, races, religion, and ideologies. Gallery Night is a wonderful opportunity to stroll the streets soaking up the nightlife, meeting locals, and getting inspired by what these awesome creatives have up their sleeves.

Why would Gallery Night be a good fit for APT audience members?

Just like the APT audience enjoys art, culture, and community - the Gallery Night community loves those things too! While the title suggests it is all about the galleries, it’s not just that. It is galleries and shops, but over the years Gallery Nights has morphed into a community event on these nights. Many restaurants choose to feature food specials and other more niche businesses might choose these nights to do something special pertaining to their specific business.
