Discover what your friends in the APT Core Company are up to this winter and spring!

Following the closing of The 39 Steps at the end of this month, we here at APT begin our annual production-hiatus for the next several wintery months. While we make plans and schedules for next summer here in Spring Green, our Core Company members are working on projects, performances and so much more across the country.

Learn more about what some of your favorite Core Company members are up to this winter and spring, and make a game plan to escape the cold and warm up to one of their upcoming performances or events!

Tracy Michelle Arnold

Tracy is entering her second winter as Co-Director (with Jim Ridge) of The Language Project at APT. She looks forward to exploring language with two new cohorts of burgeoning theatre artists from across the country.

Nate Burger

After "39 Steps" closes, I'll take December for family and holidays, then in January, I'll be back in Spring Green to do David Daniel's new play "Before the Mountains of Madness" at Two Crows, directed by Marcus Truschinski. This Spring, I'll be at Chicago Shakespeare to play Dr. Caius in their production of "Merry Wives of Windsor". It's a busy off-season - for which I am very grateful - but I'm already excited for summer!

David Daniel

David will be performing in Forward Theater's world premiere of Lauren Gunderson's 'Lady Disdain' with his friends and fellows- Colleen Madden, Alys Dickerson, Phoebe González, and Ron Román-Meléndez

His own play, 'Before the Mountains of Madness,' will have its world premiere at Two Crows Theatre in January as directed by Marcus Truschinski and featuring Nate Burger and Neil Brookshire.

Jim DeVita

I’m very happy to be spending the fall and winter finishing up the last round edits on my new book, Sanctuary, a suspense thriller being published by Penguin Random House, which will be on bookshelves April 28th, 2026. The book is also being published by HarperCollins in the UK, as well as in Germany, France and Italy.

Tim Gittings

This October and November, I'll be working with the theater department at UW-Platteville on a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. They have a unique grant to bring in theater professionals to work with their students, so I will be in the play with them, and also leading a workshop, and talking with the Shakespeare class. That performs November 19 - 23.

Violet Palms (the band both Marcus and I play in) released our second album at the end of September! By Design and Accidental is available on all streaming services, and through our website. We're also planning a small Midwest tour this spring to support it, so keep your eyes open!

Phoebe González

I'm playing Rosalind in Shaina Taub and Laurie Woolery's musical adaptation of As You Like It at Writers Theatre. Then, after some rest and relaxation I'll be returning to Forward Theater in the spring for a new adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing with a whole crew of APT faves. See you in 2026!

Josh Krause

I’m working on Boswell (James Boswell) with Brian Mani and Laura Gordon this fall at Next Act in Milwaukee. This winter I’ll be with Forward in Madison working on Ironbound (Maks). In between this and that I’ll be playing Dad for our soon to be two year old, Vinnie, and watching the latest season of Stranger Things with my wife, Rachel.

Colleen Madden

The day after APT’s closing performance, Colleen traveled to Ireland with her mother to see aunts, uncles, cousins and old friends. In November, she will be performing in Heidi Armbruster’s Murder Girl at Milwaukee Chamber Theater. In March and April she will be first be at Spring Green’s very own Two Crows Theatre in David Cale’s Sandra and then at Forward Theater in Lauren Gunderson’s Lady Disdain, which is a very modern reimagining of Much Ado About Nothing.

Brian Mani

Brian Mani will be at Next Act Theatre, in Milwaukee, performing in Boswell, written by his wife, Marie Kohler. Nov. 19 - Dec. 14. The rest of the winter/spring he’ll be seeing family and preparing for APT in ‘26!!

Melisa Pereyra

I’m playing Kate in Taming of the Shrew at Court Theatre in an adaptation created and directed by Marti Lyons, who directed me at APT in Cymbeline. And I’ve started my 2nd year of teaching at Northwestern University; where I get to teach my very first co-hort of actors—who will be my acting students for the next two years!

James Ridge

I’ll be working with Tracy Michelle Arnold and La Shawn Banks on our December and January sessions of The Language Project, as well as performing with the WYSO on Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale on April 19th.

Laura Rook

Happy Wintering months to all! I'm heading back to Chicago after the run of 39 Steps and prepping to direct As You Like It for next summer. I'm also going to be assistant directing for Phillip Breen on a production Merry Wives of Windsor at Chicago Shakespeare in the Spring. Wishing everyone peace and warmth.

Marcus Truschinski

It’s going to be a busy winter! It all starts off with 39 Steps, which is going to be a blast. Hope you grabbed some tickets. I will be directing the world premiere of David Daniel’s play “Before the Mountains of Madness” at Two Crows Theatre Company in January.

We have a great season lined up at Two Crows, including “Sandra” by David Cale starring Colleen Madden and “Chesapeake” by Lee Blessing starring Elizabeth Ledo. Tickets on sale in November.

My band Violet Palms is setting up a tour of the Midwest! Come and check us out. More info to come. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, or at violetpalmsband.com
